Brian was much loved as one of my Uncles, and I will miss Brian very much.
I remember he joined us on holidays when we were little. A holiday in Wales, and one in Cornwall. He brought us our first puppy when we lived in the country. A lively little Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a little black kitten. He always remembered special occasions and joined the family at Christmas, Easter and many other occasions.
He loved to inspire and challenge me. I remember receiving "Watership Down" and the challenge of reading it at quite a young age with much of text written in dialect; a gift of my own tiny little bead weaving loom and Brian teaching me how to set it up; and many other similar projects and gifts.
He used to share stories from his travels and his life. Later on we shared gardening ideas and plants. He used to be interested my life, my work and in the lives of my children and keen they should know some of the history about them. He shared with us all what it was like to be a child in the war and what it was like to live in a remote village in Ghana. He also used to talk about and support the local Transport Museum which usually meant Brian inviting us to go with him to ride the trams and trolley buses during an afternoon in the school holidays.
On one occasion my Father, Sister Karen and our daughters all attended a Textiles exhibition at the Victoria and Albert. It was fair to say Brian enjoyed the exhibition immensely. He explaining the exhibits and techniques to us all. He also managed to find himself an audience of strangers at the exhibition and before we knew it , we waited while he also explained some of the exhibits to the crowd around him.
We will all miss having Brian as part of our lives, and most especially his stories.
Love from Helen.

We would just like to say what a wonderful, funny man Brian was. He was a true gentleman and a considerate neighbour. We will miss our chats and just seeing you in general. Rest in peace.
Love,
Ruth, Denis and Aimee Egan (No:29) xx

As is a tale, so is life.
It is not how long; but how good and how interesting it is.
Your tale is ended, but the memories will last forever.
